A note about tonewoods:

Gaiero Guitars is dedicated to building with woods from non-threatened tree species. This isn’t a compromise in quality, but an opportunity to expand our creative horizons. Phenomenal guitars exist beyond the confines of the traditional woods used a century ago.

I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some of the world’s most respected acoustic guitar builders. Regarding tonewoods, there are some things they all agree on.

The first is that the soundboard contains the soul of the guitar. The remaining elements work in service of this essential truth.

The second is that a wood’s species isn’t a reliable indicator of its tonal and structural potential. Every piece of wood is unique and requires careful evaluation and selection. Material properties don’t recognize species boundaries.

The modern age presents us with a wealth of exceptional tonewoods that are readily available and grow in abundance. Explore the photos and videos on this website for examples of guitars built with woods you may not have previously considered.
